Valentine's Day

This picture does not look like the ingredients for a great movie..... anybody surprised... and It isn't.
I hear some SNL people saying over and over... Really, really.

The only thing i was surprised about is that I actually DIDN'T barf. Infact I didn't even hate it. Not that I'd say to rent it.

Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus

This was a reco from Tim. No Heath Ledger didn't establish himself here as the end all be all actor. It was neat to see how they finished the movie after he croaked. The movie wasn't as kid based as I expected, and kind of dark actually. I'd recommend it, just know before... its a little weird.

Road

Maybe this was a good book... I can see that. The movie was good... rent it if you don't have anything else. In general its slow, drags on a little. Couple of jumps from some post apocalyptic freakness, and its neatly done, but don't rush out.

Dear John

I can't believe I'm writing this.... Confirmed... Channing Tatum sucks! Who was waiting for confirmation again....

The Notebook guy wrote this... that one was way better.

Stolen

Pretty good, worth a rent. Not top shelf... but Brynn and I both liked it.

Based on a true story, John Hamm hunts down his missing kid through the years.... semi low budget, Josh Lucas... James van der BEEK... how do you even spell that?

The New Daughter

What a horror flick. Who would have guessed. Maybe more like a thriller/semi horror movie. I don't think this will ruin it for you, but we were amazed where this went. Nothing super deep, definitely no awards in store for this movie, but on a slow Weds... its worth it if you are out of choices.

44 inch chest

With practically the same cast of RocknRolla and that same gritty English feel, this movie ended up being completely different. I'm not sure i liked it. I think I put up with it till the end.... yes, that's a better way to put it.

The Young Victoria

This movie won some awards for best costumes or something like that. Needless to say, I was reaching on this one. The movie was slow, so don't expect something that won't require some patience. That said, it was good. Interesting story, seemed pretty historically accurate, good acting, and worth the rent for sure.

COMING SOON

44 Inch Chest
Queen Victoria

Leap Year

Yeah, I saw this. It was tolerable. almost..... It deserves a nice bottle of wine for sure.

Um, not much more to say, I wouldn't rent it for me. If your GF rents it, you deserve to have her watch something awesome like ninja assasin for this.

PS Yes, Ninja Assasin is awesome, if you don't think so, you've forfeited your movie opinions. DAVE

Daybreakers

This movie was pretty cool. I'm not typically into vampire movies, but this deserves a rent. 7.5 out of ten.
Had some twists and definitely was deeper than i suspected.

Edge of Darkness

Raise your hand if you were just waiting for Mel Gibson to say "GIVE ME BACK MY SON" in this movie. I thought it was very Ransom and wasn't advertised distinctly enough to differentiate. However it was a good movie, and actually was different from Ransom. It wasn't GREAT, but worth a rental.

Nine

Nine is a musical with Daniel Day Lewis and others. I thought it was a good movie... for a musical. Some songs were good, although I did think that they all sounded pretty similiar, not that much depth in music writing. Once and a while we would have to fast forward a song, but Guido (DDL's performance) held it together.

Men Who Stare at goats

Expecting that Steve Zissou, out of nowhere, cult classic... this isn't it. It was funny, quirky, worth renting.... but lacked the red hats and glocks that could have put it over the top.Rent it, cause you kinda have to, but don't go running out for it. Perfect download queue movie, cause they take so long to populate.

Everybody's Fine

So I can't remember this for the life of me. Hold on....Oh yeah, Robert De Niro. So you could probably have a decent movie if you just watched him tie his shoes, and I really liked it. Not what you'd expect, and a lot weirder than the previews and cover would have you believe. But if you have 3 you really want to see, and need another... get this. It's slow, and a decent flick.

Possession

The Sarah Michelle Gellar One....How long did we wait for this thing to come out.... Like 2 frickin years. And so it finally did... and we rented it. You can see the Grudge similarity, and if you liked that you'll definitely like this. Good date movie, semi suspenseful. Yeah! it was good.

Dolan's Cadillac

Best B List movie out. Low budget, nobody in it. if you say Christian Slater isn't than you too are a nobody.... but again .... Watchable. Oh Stephen King Film.... hmmm. guess you can kind of tell.

Where the Wild Things Are

Was it me.... or did is this movie lame. I wanted to strangle that kid so bad I could only take like 20 minutes and donezo.. Back to BB

Did you Hear About the Morgans

Total chick flick.... so you think. Its a good movie. I'm a sucker for SJP movies, and Hugh Grant is his typical dorky funny self. But the Sasparella guy form the Big Lebowsky and Ted Danson's wife even it out. So, like rainy Sunday for sure. And pop the Chard.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

This was an enjoyable kids movie. A lot of kids movies get branded as "Great for Adults too!" This one deserves better than the "too" label. Granted not what you'd rent when you have your own choice... But when the nieces are over, get this... it'll pass the time way better.

Echelon Conspiracy

This movie was a no name sci fi movie that looked to be pretty bad. Honestly i wasn't looking forward to a fun night when we picked this up. It turned out to be a decent movie. Definitely not a top shelf slot, but worth a non new release free bee.
It has ed burns, shane west, and vinghn rhames. i really don't care if i spelt those right.

Fantastic Mr Fox

Hecka Good. It's a semi Kid movie, pretty much like anything i've ever seen, but it was more adult than cloudy with a chance of meatballs. The whole movie was like the cutaway scenes from Steve Zissou's ship. So I recommend it for immediate rental. On your top 45 list, just know its still slightly geared towards wholesome.

Bad Lieutenant

Hmmm. It wasn't as bad as some of the latest Nick Cage movies..... but it was pretty bad. It was WATCHABLE!!! Nicolas Cage is a friggin dork. He does his standard drugged up routine like well standard. Actually Val Kilmer was ok in it... Lost some weight. Looks like it was an old Harvey Kietel remake. His was most likely better.

Ninja Assasin

OWN IT. One of my favorite movies of all time. I don't own much. This is a winner. Friggin awesome.

Iron Man

Brynn hadn't seen this and since 2 is on its way, we played some catch up. Its the third time I've seen it, which shows how good it is... obviously.

Education

I didn't know what this was. It was a Brynn reco that I rented. Then I saw the beginning and thought CRAP. I saw this preview like a million times and it looks totally lame. It wasn't. A chick flick that guys can put up with. Can't recommend to like a friend on a Sat night... but it goes perfect with Ninja Assassin.

Brothers

Another movie I totally didn't want to see. Actually nobody I know wanted to see this, but we were out of choices and this was the last ditch effort. The movie wasn't portrayed in the preview accurately, and in was a good movie. A total reco. There was some war stuff in it that I never saw coming.

Endgame

Engaging isn't what you'd call a movie you were able to finish 3 reviews during. Its 30 min in, and I am already close to tossing in the towel. So far I enjoyed the opel's, and older peugot's, like a french vintage car show.
Good thing I wrote this early. This move was pretty lame and i totally didn't remember it. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I even watched the whole thing.

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee

Hey, here's where Keanu Reeves went. Don't let all the big names fool you, its actually an ok movie. Winona Ryder isn't in it much. It's not super exciting, i'd call it a semi "chick flick" to an extent. Of the 90% of crappy chick flicks out there, this one's probably in the top 10 percent to rent. Rainy Sunday when you're tired of our video games.

Boondock Saints 2

You probably wouldn't get the Boondock Saints T shirt if this was the only movie in the series you'd seen. However a follow up to a cult classic with ten years in between is hard to do, and this movie didn't take itself too seriously and accomplished the task. Se it if you loved the first one, if you haven't.... watch the first one, see how it goes, and get this when you're wanting more.

Actually if you want more, watch the first one again, then watch 2. I did enjoy it though. Matt you should rent it.

The Damned United

.... Winner. Good movie, based on a true story. The actor is from a couple other good movies, I liked him in Frost Nixon. It's about an English soccer team.... well coach. Yeah, not a Saturday blockbuster, but you don't have to be out of options to enjoy this movie either.

Cold Souls

I liked this movie. It stars Paul Giamatti as himself. Had never heard of it, but it was a totally quirky typical Paul Giamatti movie. I recommend it, its no summer blockbuster, but funny.... slightly dark, and unlike anything your would expect.

Hmmmmm. Rainy Sunday? Yeah.

50 Dead Men Walking

Got one for ya. What's not good with Ben Kingsley. Anyway this one's up there. It caught me off guard. I had never heard of it, but recognized the main guy. Its about the IRA which is always action packed. So, this one is a Friday or Saturday night top hit. One of the best 10 in the last 6 months. I guess by the previews its by an indy company, no matter, cause they are doing most of the good stuff lately anyway.

Tom Yum Goong

Easily Tony Jaa's best movie. If you get the Protector, you better ensure it is the 2 disc version with the Thailand release in it. 20 extra minutes. Also I recommend English subtitles, the dubbing is distracting. We just finished a session where in 2 weeks we saw all his movies, and yep, this is the Best. I rate it, this, then Ong Bak I, then Ong Bak II. Joel flips I and II. But this is one to own, and I don't buy much.

Stepfather

One of those movies where rotten tomatoes I think got it wrong. This was a decent date night thriller. I'm not saying it's some 90 rated film, but it was enjoyable for what it was and didn't try too hard. Appreciated by both, and a rental reco. If you have two in hand, make this three.... OH a remake. I didn't know.

In the Loop

Classic British funny, maybe some sort of cult classic following. When there's nothing left.... rent a game. There was some funny here. but the trailer definitely oversold it. Bummer. Anyway. its a NOPE... and super non memorable.

Thirteen Days

OOOHHH a super rare old release. Free baby (blockbuster one a month and one every Mon-Weds) Its hard to find a non dated old release you haven't seen. This movie was really good. Armstrong and Getty recommended it, Brynn wanted it.... and I think she even stayed awake for it.... well maybe not. But it was good. If you haven't seen it. you should, almost Tom Clancy meets Jerry Bruckenhimer (SP)

Coco Before Chanel

The perfect Thailand to USA plane movie. Not plain, perfect when you've seen everything and still have a long flight. Audrey Tautou is good in anything, and the movie is a neat view in to fashion, well Chanel type fashion.

It is set.... I DON'T KNOW, early 1900's. Not fast, pretty slow. This is more a slow Tuesday film. Tuesday at 35000 ft that is. Although... surprise. I did enjoy it.

The Boys are Back

Given the face Clive Owen and the film got so many nominations, it had to at least be decent. It is definitely more of a girly movie, but it was a pretty quality film. It is slow and semi sad, but the kid in the movie cracks you up. I would rate this a rainy Sunday. Thats like two steps up from a slow Tuesday, but seeable, good, and enjoyable. Just best with wine and cheese, a.... a female companion.

Moon

My first Movie Review is a Sam Rockwell movie, Moon.

The movie was great, and i recommend its on your rental short list. I tend not to go into movie details, but it is a space movie, that tends to be an automatic no for some viewers although it isn't super sci fi'ie.

It was a stunner, wasn't looking for it, actually didn't know it existed, but I like most things Sam Rockwell is in, and this one was good. One of those movies where you wish you hadn't seen it so you could be surprised again when you rented it.
