The Damned United

.... Winner. Good movie, based on a true story. The actor is from a couple other good movies, I liked him in Frost Nixon. It's about an English soccer team.... well coach. Yeah, not a Saturday blockbuster, but you don't have to be out of options to enjoy this movie either.

Cold Souls

I liked this movie. It stars Paul Giamatti as himself. Had never heard of it, but it was a totally quirky typical Paul Giamatti movie. I recommend it, its no summer blockbuster, but funny.... slightly dark, and unlike anything your would expect.

Hmmmmm. Rainy Sunday? Yeah.

50 Dead Men Walking

Got one for ya. What's not good with Ben Kingsley. Anyway this one's up there. It caught me off guard. I had never heard of it, but recognized the main guy. Its about the IRA which is always action packed. So, this one is a Friday or Saturday night top hit. One of the best 10 in the last 6 months. I guess by the previews its by an indy company, no matter, cause they are doing most of the good stuff lately anyway.

Tom Yum Goong

Easily Tony Jaa's best movie. If you get the Protector, you better ensure it is the 2 disc version with the Thailand release in it. 20 extra minutes. Also I recommend English subtitles, the dubbing is distracting. We just finished a session where in 2 weeks we saw all his movies, and yep, this is the Best. I rate it, this, then Ong Bak I, then Ong Bak II. Joel flips I and II. But this is one to own, and I don't buy much.

Stepfather

One of those movies where rotten tomatoes I think got it wrong. This was a decent date night thriller. I'm not saying it's some 90 rated film, but it was enjoyable for what it was and didn't try too hard. Appreciated by both, and a rental reco. If you have two in hand, make this three.... OH a remake. I didn't know.

In the Loop

Classic British funny, maybe some sort of cult classic following. When there's nothing left.... rent a game. There was some funny here. but the trailer definitely oversold it. Bummer. Anyway. its a NOPE... and super non memorable.

Thirteen Days

OOOHHH a super rare old release. Free baby (blockbuster one a month and one every Mon-Weds) Its hard to find a non dated old release you haven't seen. This movie was really good. Armstrong and Getty recommended it, Brynn wanted it.... and I think she even stayed awake for it.... well maybe not. But it was good. If you haven't seen it. you should, almost Tom Clancy meets Jerry Bruckenhimer (SP)

Coco Before Chanel

The perfect Thailand to USA plane movie. Not plain, perfect when you've seen everything and still have a long flight. Audrey Tautou is good in anything, and the movie is a neat view in to fashion, well Chanel type fashion.

It is set.... I DON'T KNOW, early 1900's. Not fast, pretty slow. This is more a slow Tuesday film. Tuesday at 35000 ft that is. Although... surprise. I did enjoy it.

The Boys are Back

Given the face Clive Owen and the film got so many nominations, it had to at least be decent. It is definitely more of a girly movie, but it was a pretty quality film. It is slow and semi sad, but the kid in the movie cracks you up. I would rate this a rainy Sunday. Thats like two steps up from a slow Tuesday, but seeable, good, and enjoyable. Just best with wine and cheese, a.... a female companion.

Moon

My first Movie Review is a Sam Rockwell movie, Moon.

The movie was great, and i recommend its on your rental short list. I tend not to go into movie details, but it is a space movie, that tends to be an automatic no for some viewers although it isn't super sci fi'ie.

It was a stunner, wasn't looking for it, actually didn't know it existed, but I like most things Sam Rockwell is in, and this one was good. One of those movies where you wish you hadn't seen it so you could be surprised again when you rented it.
